King James Translation: “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”
Interlinear Translation: “Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my rock- I seek refuge in Him; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.”
Strong’s Concordance Translation: “THE LORD = self existent, eternal, Jehovah. IS MY ROCK = to be lofty, a craggy rock, a fortress, ragged rock, stony, stronghold. AND MY FORTRESS = a net, capture, fastness, castle, defence, fort, stronghold, be hunted, net, snare, strong place. AND MY DELIVERER = to slip out, i.e. escape, causative to deliver, calve, carry away safe, causative to escape. MY GOD, MY STRENGTH = a cliff or sharp rock as compressed, a rock or boulder, figuratively a refuge, an edge as precipitous, sharp stone. IN WHOM I WILL TRUST = to flee for protection, figuratively to confide in, have hope, make refuge. MY BUCKLER = a shield, figuratively a protector, also the scaly hide of a crocodile, armed, defence, ruler. AND THE HORN = a horn as projecting, by implication a flask, cornet, by resemblance an elephant’s tooth, i.e. ivory, a corner of the altar, a peak of a mountain, a ray of light, figuratively power, hill. OF MY SALVATION = liberty, deliverance, prosperity, safety, saving. AND MY HIGH TOWER = a cliff or other lofty or inaccessible place, abstractly altitude, figuratively a refuge, defence, high fort.
