King James Translation: “And Jehoiada made a covenant between him, and between all the people, and between the king, that they should be the Lord’s people.”

Interlinear Translation: “And cut Jehoiada a covenant between himself and all the people, and between the king, to be for a people to Jehovah;”

Strong’s Concordance Translation: “AND JEHOIADA = Jehovah known. MADE = to cut down, off or asunder; by implication to destroy or consume, specifically to covenant i.e. make an alliance or bargain, originally by cutting flesh and passing between the pieces, be confederate, be chewed, cut down, cut off, destroy, be freed, hew down, make a league. A COVENANT = a compact because made by passing between pieces of flesh, confederacy, league. BETWEEN HIM = a distinction between, among, within. AND BETWEEN ALL = the whole, any, every, altogether, any manner, enough, everyone, as many as. THE PEOPLE = as a congregated unit, especially as a tribe, hence troops or attendants, figuratively a flock, folk, nation. AND BETWEEN THE KING = royal, to reign, to ascend the throne, causative to induct into royalty, to take counsel, consult. THAT THEY SHOULD BE THE LORDS PEOPLE = to exist, i.e. be or become, come to pass always emphatic, altogether, committed, continue, follow, happen, require.
