King James Translation: “By faith, Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and went out, not knowing whither he went.”

Interlinear Translation: “By faith being called Abraham obeyed to go out into the place which he was about to receive for an inheritance, and went out, not knowing where he is going.”

Strong’s Concordance Translation: “BY FAITH = persuasion, i.e. credence, morally conviction of religious truth, reliance upon Christ for salvation, constancy in such profession, the system of religious truth itself, assurance, belief, fidelity. ABRAHAM = to be populous, father of a multitude. WHEN HE WAS CALLED = bid, called forth. TO GO OUT INTO A PLACE = a spot generally in space but limited by occupancy, location as a position, home, tract, figuratively condition, opportunity, coast, license, quarter, room, where. WHICH HE SHOULD = expectation, to intend, i.e. be about to be, do, or suffer something of persons or things, especially events, in the sense of purpose, duty, necessity, probability, possibility or hesitation. AFTER RECEIVE = to take, to get hold of, to have offered to one, to seize or remove, accept, attain. FOR AN INHERITANCE = heirship, i.e. a patrimony or genitive a possession, parcel break, apportionment, a sharer by lot, an inheritor, a possession, heir. OBEYED = to hear under as a subordinate, i.e. to listen attentively, by implication to heed or conform to a command or authority, hearken, be obedient to, hear under. AND WENT OUT = the point whence motion or action proceeds from, out of place, time, or causes. NOT KNOWING = to not put the mind upon, i.e. to not comprehend or not be acquainted with, not know, not understand. WHITHER = what, where, used with the rising slide of inquiry.  HE WENT = to issue, come forth, come out, depart out, escape, proceed forth, spread abroad, come origin.
