Key Verse: Hebrews 10:38:
King James Translation: “Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.”
Interlinear Translation: “But the just by faith shall live; and if he draw back, delights not my soul in him.”
Strong’s Concordance Translation: “NOW = adversative or continuative, but, now, moreover. THE JUST = equitable in character or act, by implication innocent, holy, meet, right, righteous. SHALL LIVE = to live, lifetime, quick. BY FAITH = persuasion, i.e. credence, conviction of religious truth, reliance on Christ for salvation, constancy in such profession, by extension the system of religious truth itself, assurance, belief, believe, fidelity. BUT IF ANY MAN DRAW BACK = to withhold under out of sight, i.e. to cower or shrink, to conceal, reserve, shun, withdraw, stand under. MY SOUL = breath, i.e. by implication spirit, heart, life, mind. SHALL HAVE NO PLEASURE IN HIM = not to think well of, i.e. not approve an act, not to approbate a person or thing, not think good, not be well, not be pleased, not be the good, not be willing, not think good.
