King James Translation: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that commeth to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Interlinear Translation: “But apart from faith it is impossible to well please him. For to believe it behoves him who approaches to God, that he is, and for those who seek out him a rewarder he becomes.”
Strong’s Concordance Translation; “BUT = other things, i.e. contrariwise, but, howbeit, indeed, nay, nevertheless, notwithstanding, therefore, yea, yet. WITHOUT = a space, i.e. separately or apart, beside, by itself. FAITH = persuasion, i.e. credence, morally conviction of religious truth, reliance upon Christ for salvation, constancy in such profession, the system of religious truth, assurance, belief, fidelity. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE = unable, i.e. weak, could not do, impotent. TO PLEASE HIM = to gratify entirely, please well. FOR HIM THAT COMMETH TO GOD = to approach, i.e. come near, visit, or figuratively worship, assent to, consent, draw near, go near, come unto. MUST BELIEVE = persuasion, i.e. credence, morally conviction of religious truth, reliance upon Christ for salvation, constancy in such profession the system of religious truth, assurance, belief, fidelity. THAT HE IS, AND THAT HE IS = are, belong, consisteth, remaineth. A REWARDER OF THEM = give away pay, a remunerator. THAT DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM = to search out, i.e. figuratively investigate, crave, demand, by Hebraism worship, require, seek after carefully.
