King James Translation: “By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.”

Interlinear Translation: “By faith a more excellent sacrifice Abel than Cain offered to God, by which he was borne witness as being righteous, bearing witness to his gifts God, and through it, having died, yet speaks.”

Strong’s Concordance Translation: “BY FAITH = persuasion, i.e. credence, morally conviction of religious truth, reliance upon Christ for salvation, constancy in such profession, the system of religious gospel truth itself, assurance, belief, fidelity. ABEL = emptiness or vanity, figuratively something transitory and unsatisfactory, altogether, vain vanity, to be vain in act, word, or expectation, specially to lead astray, be or become vain. OFFERED UNTO GOD = to bear toward, i.e. lead to, tender especially to God, treat, bring to, bring unto, deal with, offer, present unto, put to. A MORE = yet, still of time or degree, after that, also, further. EXCELLENT = more in quantity, number or quality, the major portion, greater, greater part. SACRIFICE = the actd or the victim, to rush, breathe hard, blow, smoke, by implication to sacrifice, to immolate, slaughter for any purpose, kill, sacrifice, slay. THAN CAIN = fixity, a lance as striking fast, spear. BY WHICH HE OBTAINED WITNESS = to be a witness, i.e. testify, charge, give evidence, bear record, have, obtain and of good record, give testimony. THAT HE WAS RIGHTEOUS = equitable in character or act, by implication innocent, holy, just, meet. GOD TESTIFYING = to be a witness, i.e. testify, charge, give evidence, bear record, have, obtain and of good record, give testimony. OF HIS GIFTS = a present, specially a sacrifice, offering. AND BY IT HE BEING DEAD = to die off, be dead, lie a dying, be slain. YET SPEAKETH = to talk, i.e. utter words, preach, say, speak after, talk, tell, utter.
