King James Version: “He will swallow up death in victory and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth; for the Lord hath spoken it.”
Interlinear Translation: “He will swallow up death forever and will wipe away the Lord Jehovah tears from all faces. And the reproach of His people He will remove from all the earth for Jehovah has spoken.”
Strong’s Concordance Translation: “HE WILL SWALLOW UP = to make away with specially by swallowing, genitive to destroy, cover, devour, eat up, be an end, spend up, swallow down. DEATH = the dead their place, state of place, figuratively pestilence, ruin, be dead, death, die. IN VICTORY = a goal, i.e. the bright object at a distance traveled towards hence figuratively splendor or subjectively truthfulness or objectively confidence, but usually adverbially continuously i.e. to the most distant point of view: always, constantly, evermore, perpetual, strength, victory. AND THE LORD GOD WILL WIPE AWAY = to stroke or rub by implication to erase also to smooth as if with oil, i.e. grease or make fat, also to touch, i.e. reach to: abolish, blot out, destroy, full or marrow, putout, reach unto, utterly wipe away, utterly wipe out. TEARS = weeping, to weep sore. FROM OFF ALL FACES = the face as the part that turns, as a preposition before, countenance, edge, employ, endure, enquire, favor, fear of, forefront, heaviness. AND THE REBUKE = contumely, disgrace, the pudenda: reproach, reproachfully, shame. OF HIS PEOPLE = the people as a congregated unit, specially a tribe as those of Israel, hence collectively troops or attendants, figuratively a flock, men, nation. SHALL HE TAKE AWAY = to turn off, behead, bring, call back, decline, depart, eschew, get you go aside, grievous, law away, leave undone, be past, pluck away, put away or down, rebel, remove to and fro, revolt, be sour, take away or off, turn aside or away or in, withdraw, be without. FROM OFF ALL THE EARTH = to be firm, common, country, field, ground, land, nations, way, wilderness, world. FOR THE LORD HAS SPOKEN IT = arrange, to speak rarely in a destructive sense, to subdue, answer, appoint, bid, command, commune, declare, destroy, give, name, promise, pronounce, rehearse, say, speak, be spokesman, subdue, talk, reach, tell, think, use entreaties, utter, well, work.
