King James Translation: “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the lust of the flesh.”
Interlinear Translation: “But I say, By the Spirit walk ye, and desire flesh’s in no wise should ye fulfil.”
Strong’s Concordance Translation: “THIS I SAY THEN = to lay forth, relate in words usually systematic or set discourse, generally refer to an individual expression or speech respectively, to break silence merely, extended random harangue, to mean, ask, bid, boast, call, describe, give out, put forth, shew, tell, utter, speak. WALK = to tread all around, walk at large, to live, deport oneself, follow as a companion or votary, go, be occupied with. IN THE SPIRIT = a current of air, breath, blast or a breeze, vital principle, superhuman, divine God, Christ’s spirit, the Holy Spirit. AND YE SHALL NOT FULFIL = not to end, not to complete, not to execute, not to conclude, not to discharge a debt, not to accomplish, not to make an end, not to expire, not to fill up, not to finish, not to go over, not to pay, not to perform. THE LUST = a longing for what is forbidden, concupiscence, desire. OF THE FLESH = as stripped of the skin, the body as opposed to the soul or spirit, as the symbol of what is external, the means of kindred or human nature with its frailties or passions, a human being as such carnal minded.
