BIBLE LANGUAGES MAJOR IN THEOLOGY (PROGRAM TO BE DESIGNED)

 

 

            COLLEGE CURRICULA IS DESIGNED FOR STUDENTS WHO DESIRE A COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATION INCLUDING GENERAL ACADEMIC STUDIES IN ADDITION TO BIBLE-ORIENTED STUDIES. IT IS ASSUMED THAT THE PERSON DESIRING TO EXPAND HIS EDUCATION IN ORDER TO PASTOR CHURCHES WITH ENLARGED MINISTRIES SUCH AS CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS WILL ENROLL IN A CURRICULA DESIGNED FOR THAT PURPOSE. SPECIALIZED NON-PASTORAL MINISTRIES SHOULD ALS0 ENROLL IN A SPECIALLY DESIGNED CURRICULATO ACCOMPLISH THAT PURPOSE.

 

PROFICIENCIES

 

EVERY STUDENT ENROLLED IN THE INSTITUTE AND SEMINARY WILL SELECT A PRIMARY PROFICIENCY AND A SECONDARY PROFICIENCY THEY WISH TO CONCENTRATE THEIR STUDIES. AS LISTED IN THE "PROFICIENCIES" SECTION OF THIS CATALOG, PRIMARY PROFICIENCIES INCLUDE "PASTORAL", "NON-PASTORAL", AND "CHRISTIAN DAY SCHOOL".

 

 

DOCTORAL DEGREE PROGRAMS

 

A DOCTORAL DEGREE PROGRAM IS OFFERED IN THE CURRICULA, TO STUDENTS WHO ARE ELECTED BY THE ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY. EACH PROGRAM SHALL BE DESIGNED FOR THE INDIVIDUAL STUDENT.

COURSES WILL BE TAKEN IN THE CLASSROOM WITH UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS BUT COURSE NUMBERS WILL BE UPGRADED TO 500 AND 600 LEVELS AND ADDITIONAL WORK WILL BE REQUIRED.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS:

 

BI 101 OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY`        3 Semester Hours

This is a chronological survey of the Old Testament with attention to the production, history, background and outline of each Book as it integrates into the chronology.

BI 102 NEW TESTAMENT SURVEY        3 Semester Hours

This is a chronological survey of the New Testament with attention to the political, social and religious world of the first century. An outline study of each Book integrated into the chronology.                               

BI 103 PERSONAL EVANGELISM           3 Semester Hours

This is an emphasis on the man, methods, message and means of evangelism with a careful study of the Spirit filled life of the soul winner as well as the work of the Holy Spirit in every phase of witnessing. A strong emphasis is placed on how to lead a single individual to Christ in person-to-person confrontation.

BI 104 MANNERS AND CUSTOMS OF BIBLE LANDS           3 Semester Hours

This is a study of the manners and customs of the Hebrew people includes Old and New Testament times in relation to the Scriptures.

BI 105 BIBLE ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION                 3 Semester Hours

This is a system of Bible study taking apart, analyzing, and putting together again with a thorough study of divisions of Old and New Testaments, the Law of Moses, the Prophets, the Psalms, the types of the Old Testament, and the miracles of the New Testament. Other important techniques of Biblical interpretation will be studied.

BI 106 CHRISTIAN DOCTRINES             3 Semester Hours

This is a study of the Bible by subject matter with particular emphasis given to the great doctrines.

BI 201 HISTORICAL BOOKS                    3 Semester Hours

This is a study of the books of Joshua through Esther with attention given to the content of each book and its relation to the Bible as a whole.

BI 202 GENERAL EPISTLES                     3 Semester Hours

This is a study of the authorship, message, and doctrine in the epistles of James, Peter, John and Jude.

BI 203 SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY I         3 Semester Hours

This is a study of Theology, Bibliology, Christology and Pneumatology.

BI 204 SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY II       3 Semester Hours

This is a study of Anthropology, Harmatology, Soteriology, and Angelology.

BI 301 PASTORAL EPISTLES                    3 Semester Hours

This is a study of I and II Timothy and Titus with emphasis upon the qualifications of ministers and an application to present-day pastor-church relationships.

BI 303 PRISON EPISTLES AND GALATIONS                3 Semester Hours

This is a study of Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and Philemon with emphasis on the doctrines as applied to present day churches.

BI 304 PENTATEUCH                                 3 Semester Hours

This is a study of the first five books of the Old Testament. They are approached as the inspired Word of God with special emphasis on Biblical Theology as the beginning and foundation of all history.

BI 305 SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY III      3 Semester Hours

This is a study of Ecclesiology and Corinthians with special emphasis on church policy and practice.

BI 306 SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY IV      3 Semester Hours

This is a study of Eschatology including and study of the books of Daniel, Revelations and Thessalonians with attention given to prophetic analysis.

BI 401 THE GOSPEL                                   3 Semester Hours

This is a study of the gospel narratives, including a harmony of the life and ministry of Christ.

BI 402 MAJOR PROPHETS                                   3 Semester Hours

This is a study of the lives, experiences, messages and prophecies of the major prophets of the Old Testament.

BI 403 BIBLE GEOGRAPHY                      3 Semester Hours

This is a study of Bible lands and places. Students who tour Bible lands may receive up to six semester hours credit in Bible Geography with prior approval.

BI 404 MINOR PROPHETS                        3 Semester Hours

This is a study of the books commonly called the Minor Prophets. Emphasis is also given to the historical background of each book.

BI 405 ACTS                                                  3 Semester Hours

This is a study of the Acts of the Apostles pertaining to the Holy Spirit, the early church and the expansion of her ministry.

BI 406 POETIC BOOKS                              3 Semester Hours

This is a study of the poetic books of the Old Testament.

BI 407 ROMANS                                          3 Semester Hours

This is a study of the epistle with emphasis on the basic doctrines of the Christian faith.

BI 408 HEBREWS                                        3 Semester Hours

This is an analysis of the Hebrew epistle with consideration of the message, and the doctrines against the historical backgrounds and Leviticus.

BI 411, 412 BIBLICAL RESEARCH          Variable hours

This is a study of Biblical research techniques. Hours credit may vary and will be assigned by the faculty. May be taken repeatedly for elective credit.

BI 502 HERMENEUTICS                            3 Semester Hours

This is a study of the science and principles of Bible Interpretation. The basic methods and rules for interpreting parables, types, figurative language and prophecy are presented with special emphasis on premillennial teaching.
